Chimcomplex Announces Major Reorganization and Layoffs in 2025 Plan
Chimcomplex, known for its vital chemical substances, has announced a major plan involving layoffs and restructuring. The company claims this is to optimize operations and adopt cutting-edge technology, affecting around 260 employees from the total of 1,600 in Râmnicu Vâlcea and Oneşti. Despite these changes, they promise support for those affected, aiming at a smooth transition towards other companies within their community.
Other directions for this year include significant investments in strategic projects to expand capacities in high-growth domains, aligning with global sustainability trends by investing in green technologies and promoting energy efficiency as per international environmental standards. The company is also beefing up its leadership team.
Cristina Stoian, who has extensive experience managing companies like Tinmar Energy, Transelectrica, and Teraplast, will take over the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) starting March. Her mission includes strengthening financial discipline, operational efficiency, and investment strategy to foster sustainable company growth.
Meanwhile, Călin Pop, after two years as Chief Commercial Officer at Chimcomplex, is stepping into a development role for the World Trade Division—a strategic hub for international expansion tasked with managing and optimizing global trade operations beyond current product lines. With over 30 years of experience in multinationals such as P&G, Nestle, and Borealis, Pop’s expertise will be instrumental.
Dan Moldovan, with a career spanning over 26 years in chemical sales at Oltchim and later Chimcomplex, is being promoted to Chief Commercial Officer. This move comes at a time when the company is navigating through a delicate balance, making decisions that aim to safeguard its long-term financial and operational health.
“We are at a fragile equilibrium but have a clear direction,” said Ştefan Vuza, President of Chimcomplex. “Managing this situation with all necessary responsibility and involvement, we’re determined to make choices that protect our long-term health and continue investing in strategic projects.”
Chimcomplex, the biggest combination of chemical products in the country, is a cornerstone for Romania’s economy with two industrial platforms in Oneşti and Râmnicu Vâlcea. In 2023, Chimcomplex recorded sales of 1.34 billion lei.
